There is a lot to consider when planning a sound system. Professional PA is a science, one that not many people seem to understand. There is simply no margin for error, because one wrong component, one incorrect calculation and the whole system sounds poor.
What most people don’t seem to realise, is that when an audio system doesnt sound quite right, especially in a bar or late night venue, people will not be able to pin-point exactly why they feel uncomfortable, they just know, deep inside that something isnt “sitting right” with them. This obviously causes unrest and customers to leave without knowing why.
Your sound system should be the best it can possibly be, it is one of your greatest assets. Sound sets the mood, starts the party and wraps your customers, friends or family in a warm comfortable, and hopefully sonically impressive blanket.
So the question of this blog is “sound ok or blow away?” Well you should always aim to blow peoples minds with your sound, but that doesnt mean it needs to be loud. Clarity, depth and sonic perfection are often overlooked and replaced by volume, which in its self is a major issue if the system is of poor design. Thorough volume comes discomfort, equipment damage and more dangerously, hearing damage too.
The basic crux of the matter is, one should always plan carefully, consulting experts who will listen to you and understand your business, system requirements and design a public address or sound system especially for your needs.
You don’t just serve “OK” food, or “OK” drinks, you serve the best of the best.. so why serve up a sound to your clients that is less than perfect. We live in a 3D world, so every sense must be stimulated for the perfect blend of satisfaction.
